The 90s according to Nell (Volume 1) [Scattered Recollections]

Listen Later

A dear friend of mine asked me quite a while ago to make a podcast of 90s music and provided a number of suggestions. Well, the idea grew (ok, it was 18 months ago!) and I have had an absolute ball pulling this together.
Not only was there something very special (for me, anyway) about the music in the 90s, but it was also an amazing time for me when great friendships that have spanned two decades first took seed - and when in 1991, I met the great love of my life (who is still with me today).
For me, many of the songs on this podcast bring back a flood of strong memories: individual songs that remind me clearly of one or two friends, a dance floor moment, a moment in time - but most of all, the 90s represent my growing up and coming out: the time when the Sydney Mardi Gras was Gay AND Lesbian and its parties - and its shows - were world renowned; of Pride and Hand in Hand; when the Midnight Shift dripped with sweat and DJs by the names of Goodyear, Taylor, Carly, Manley, Boladian, Kilby (and many others!) rocked gay Sydney; when drag queens were Titans; of green Mitsubishis; and when day-clubbing was defined by the Shift and Frisky set the pace for our "recovery".
Volume 1 contains some classic tracks from the early 90s and remixes by Wayne G, Xenomania, Almighty and Motiv8.
I hope you enjoy this podcast as much as I enjoyed putting it together.
Dr Glen, this is for you.
