Episode 14 | John 8:12–30 – I Am the Light of the World

What did Jesus mean when He declared, "I am the Light of the world"?

To fully appreciate the weight of those words, we must step into the temple during the Feast of Tabernacles—a celebration commemorating God's faithful presence and guidance through the wilderness. Against the backdrop of towering golden lampstands that reminded Israel of the pillar of fire, Jesus made one of the most astonishing claims in all of Scripture: He is the Light.

In this series of A Love That Changes Everything, we slow down to study one of the most beloved and powerful encounters in the Gospel of John—John 7:53–8:11, the account of the woman caught in adultery.

Before the accusations begin, John gives us a simple but significant detail: Jesus spent the night on the Mount of Olives, a place where He often withdrew to pray and commune with His Father. What can we learn from the rhythm of Jesus' life? How did His time with the Father prepare Him to respond with both truth and grace?

As the religious leaders drag a broken woman before Jesus, hoping to trap Him, we witness the stunning contrast between religion and the Gospel. Religion rushes to condemn. Jesus pauses. Religion looks for someone to blame. Jesus looks for someone to restore.

Together we'll explore the famous words, "Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone,"and the life-changing invitation Jesus extends to the woman: "Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more."

In a world where everyone has an opinion about Jesus, how do we know who He really is?

In this episode of A Love That Changes Everything, we continue our journey through the Gospel of John as we explore chapter 7. During the Feast of Tabernacles, opinions about Jesus were everywhere. His brothers doubted Him, the crowds debated Him, the religious leaders opposed Him, and the temple guards were sent to arrest Him. Yet through it all, Jesus remained steady because His identity was rooted in the Father who sent Him—not in the approval or rejection of people.

Together, we'll discover why Jesus never allowed public opinion to define His mission, why He repeatedly pointed people back to the Father, and what His powerful invitation, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink," still means for us today.

In this episode of the Abide Podcast: A Love That Changes Everything, we journey into John 6:22–51 and explore Jesus' first great "I Am" declaration: "I am the Bread of Life."

After feeding the five thousand, the crowds pursue Jesus hoping for another meal, but Jesus lovingly redirects their attention to a deeper reality: every human heart carries a hunger that cannot be satisfied by temporary things. Success, comfort, relationships, possessions, and accomplishments may offer momentary fulfillment, but they can never satisfy the deepest longings of the soul.

Have you ever found yourself staring at a situation that felt bigger than your ability, resources, or strength to handle?
