We discussed how in recent years, the world of sports has witnessed a massive growth in the popularity of digital collectibles and how it was an obvious play for The AFL to enter this exciting new space last year. The AFL created a fan tool that allows fans to purchase NFTs featuring their favourite players and teams. The NFTs are unique, one-of-a-kind digital assets that fans can collect and trade with other fans. The league hopes that this fan tool will not only help to create a new revenue stream, but also turn fans into lifetime customers. By providing fans with an exciting new way to engage with their favorite players and teams, the league is hoping to deepen their connection with fans and create a more loyal fanbase.
