Behind the Games – Sound Design For Far Cry – Interview with Eduardo Vaisman of Ubisoft Toronto

How far would you go to make the game you are working on sound good? We interviewed Eduard Vaisman, the Bafta Nominated Audio Director for Far Cry at Ubisoft to find out. We talked to him about his wilderness trip seeking sounds, how the sound design was done for Far Cry 6, the difference between sound design for movies and games, and what Eduardo personally was able to bring to the story and themes of the game.

New World
The server merge to Valhalla went smoothly a few weeks back and things are mostly quiet as the community waits for updates and new content to shake things up. We have a handful of players that log in a couple times a week though so if anyone did want to try it out or get something going they can post up in the channel and rally the troops.
Diablo Immortal
The mobile version is out, and is free to play, but is definitely a gacha game, if you value time over money. It takes up 12.5 gb on the iPhone. The PC Version is in Beta and is a direct mobile port. We have created a Clan (max 100 members) and it is named Alea Iacta Est Diabolus. You must be level 30 to join a Clan.
WoW
Noob Raid’s first cross faction raid happened and was a ton of fun. It was nice to see some former horde members return. We killed 5 bosses which is 2 more than we’ve ever done in the past.
Team Kiddie Aggro defeated Heroic Jailer in the Sep-ull-cher of the First Ones. They are the first AIE Raid team to get Ahead of the Curve achievement!
WoW Classic
Limited Promotion for the upcoming Wrath of the Lich King ! Come join us and any new player will get 100g, for mount, skills and an easy start.
Dungeons and more runs on Sunday and Wednesday nights, from 9-11 EDT. Please feel free to use whatever is in the guild bank for leveling professions and things like that. Welcome to all the returning players for #10forWrath
SWTOR
MFNs continue to run on Tuesdays nights. This week we are targeting an operation. Stay tuned to hear about which one!
The Public Test Server is back up, and we are hoping to field a team to go in and take a look at the new Operation.
Looking for DPSers on two of our Operations teams – Sunday Nights imp side and Monday nights pub side.

FFXIV
AIE Map Nights, Saturday at 9:30pm EST, are still a popular event. If you are level 90, have access to all of the zones, then loot, prizes, and general merriment will be your reward. We use Level 90, 8-player maps. You do not have to bring a map to join, but if you do wish to bring one for the group to use, we are looking for the Timeworn Kumbhiraskin Treasure Map.
But for those that are not level 90, we are now running non-90 map nights, thanks to Sahja, we will have a group that will be doing level 60 maps found within the Heavensward expansion. On Sundays at 4pm EST, we will be running ‘Timeworn Dragonskin Maps’, which are the 8 player version and have a chance to open up the portals to ‘The Aquapolis’ bonus zone. Since this is level 60 content, this is included in the free trial, so if you have a level 60 character, but haven’t invested any money into the game yet, you are able to join in on the fun and prizes! Super thanks to Sahja for running this event. Join us in 2 weeks for Stormblood and Gazelleskin maps.
AIE is also hosting Sprout Raids on Thursday nights at 10pm EST. These raids will vary in levels, as we go through all of the 24-player raids in each expansion. So far, we have completed all of the Crystal Tower and the Shadow of Mhach raid series. Currently, we are working on the Rabanastre raid series. We have completed The Royal City of Rabanastre and The Ridorana Lighthouse over the past few weeks. We will be moving over to the Obonne Monastery for the final raid of the Rabanastre raid series.
Make It Rain! The Annual Gold Saucer event, “Make it Rain” is back and is providing an extra 50% bonus to all MGP (Manderville Gold Saucer Points. The S in Saucer is silent, I guess.) This bonus applies to all MGP mini-games, such as the Cactpot, Mini-Cactpot, Fashion Contest, and the little skill mini-games in the Gold Saucer or in the AIE FC house. To celebrate the event, we will be running the “Jackpot” buff to increase the bonus by another 10%! To top it off, there’s a new seasonal questline that will reward some new emotes that will be sure to be a hit.
Other in-game news, Patch 6.15 is right around the corner. June 7th! A few highlights in this small update to the 6.1 patch…

Cool things the guild has been doing:
– Trials!!! We’ve bravely gone into 12 person content with 10-11 people and were successful in both killing bosses and having fun.
– We ventured in to Cloudrest for the first time and managed to successfully clear it
– If you are interested in running dungeons for pledges we have two dungeon groups that occasionally need someone to fill in. Check out the Undaunted Enclave channel in Discord for more information.
Things planned or coming up for the guild:
– High Isle comes out June 6th for PC/Mac so for MFN this coming Friday we will spend time exploring the new zone for Skyshards, Wayshrines, and Points of interest.

The Federation colony is still progressing through the final tier, Tier 5.
KDF side dilithium mine is counting down the upgrade for Tier 2 and had the Tier 2 discount project queued up to start as soon as the other finishes.
Thursday nights at 11pm EDT is MFN.

Living World Season 1: Sky Pirates is live. Come and play the second chapter of the first living world expansion. Living World Season 1 will be free forever, so don’t worry if you can’t log in right now.
