Originally from New York City, Richard Wertheimer has lived and worked in China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan for the last 31 years.  As one of the first groups of Americans to live in China shortly after the restoration of diplomatic ties with the West, he’s one of a handful of westerners who was a witness to, and a participant in, China’s extraordinary transition from a planned to a market economy.  Being on the ground in China and Asia at such a critically important phase of the region’s development gives him a unique perspective that is only more relevant in today’s increasingly interconnected world.
