Episode 1 Summary:

Dan, a chef from Texas, arrives in a picturesque but oddball Pacific Northwest town looking for his ex-girlfriend Terri, who went missing months ago. He has a photo but no leads. Dan meets April, a prickly waitress at the local diner who wants nothing to do with helping him at first. April's mom Veronica takes an instant liking to Dan and invites him to stay with them, wanting to play matchmaker. After hijinks with other townspeople interested in Dan, April warms up and agrees to ask around to help find Terri. Dan reveals he's a chef when he cooks April brunch, so she offers him a job at the diner. Dan secretly calls his friend to say he'll stick around town longer than planned after meeting April. Despite April's standoffishness, sparks are flying between the pair as the search for Terri gets underway.
