Above the Putin Bear

No-fly zone

no planes

Dropping bombs on kids, women, the old,

Killing

Killing

Indiscriminate killing.

The golden eagle wings spread wide

Strong and brave

could make it happen

Stop the bear in its tracks

He could add to Putin’s pain

Poke the wounded bear,

Hold the beak above his head

Talons open, slashing

Drive him back to his den.

We gloat as he cowers

Growling, snarling, slobbering along the ground

Til with tucked tail, he whirls

Long canines, jaws open wide

A single bite,

Down hard on our eagle

And cities fall with the single button

In the bright light

Of Humanities MAD folly
