Based on a true story, The Amityville Horror is about a large house on the coast of Long Island where newlyweds George and Kathy Lutz and their three children move into the house that they hope will be their dream home, but ends up in terror. Despite full disclosure by the real estate agent that Ronald DeFeo murdered his parents and 4 siblings in the house, George and Kathy decide to buy it anyway, with George saying, "Houses don't have memories." They ask their family priest, Father Delaney, to bless their home, but evil forces in the house drive him away. George and Kathy face their fears of the house. Ultimately the evil within tries to possess George, and they flee their home with their children, never to return.
