The welfare of middle income has declined over the twenty years as wealth was redistributed to the rich. The life of poor people has become increasingly more miserable. The rich have tweaked the law to accelerate wealth inequality. Meanwhile the inequality of opportunities is the worse in the U.S. compared to all other western economies.
