When a church commits to align with God’s own ways of advancing the Kingdom, things have to change. Old wineskins are set aside to create a new framework for life and ministry. Traditions are regularly evaluated to ensure that they do not oppose truth. Unexamined modes of worship, community life, and mission are placed before the Lord so that He can change anything that He desires. In these seasons, Kingdom purposes are exalted above outdated policies, and new life and growth emerge. In short, an Antioch Church becomes an agent of significant change. In this message we will see how Paul and Barnabas had to oppose longstanding religious tradition that was being forcefully advanced by others. In the end, their courageous commitment to reformation and protecting the purity of the Gospel led to breakthrough for countless Christians who would later come into the Kingdom. Transformational churches must have both grace and grit. To change the status quo approach to Christianity is not for the faint of heart. May God grant courage to us all to remain agents of change.
