Much like the lyrics in this album, I'll be brief. The 2000s were a strange time for rock music, and it was dominate by angst and sadness, epitomized by emo and nu metal. Much of this was understandably seen as immature and lacking some world-weariness, but there were a lot of groups that either were coming from the previous shoegaze wave of music, or that changed their tune after a few years of angst and understanding of themselves. The Appleseed cast is one of the quintessential bands in this category. Starting in the 90s, they are one of the predecessors of the 2000s emo movement in music and really show the depths of feeling that are possible to portray through reverb-cranked guitars, long spacey jams, and minimalistic vocals... And also the kickass drums... You can't forget the drums.
