The Approval of the Electoral Amendment Bill

 Earlier this week, Parliament’s Portfolio for Home Affairs adopted the Electoral Amendment Bill despite objections to the draft legislation. After a second session of public submissions, civil society organizations believe that their concerns have not been included in the adopted Bill and may create a constitutional crisis before the 2024 elections. As a result, a collective group has launched a campaign to lobby Members of Parliament to vote against the passing of the Bill. Parliament has until 10 December 2022 to pass the Electoral Amendment Bill after requesting an extension from the Constitutional Court.
