In the message, Dr. Charles Perabeau reminded us of the significance of the ascension. It wasn’t just that Jesus was lifted up into the sky and disappeared into the heavenly realm to sit at the right hand of God the Father that makes it important but it is also significant because of what Jesus was doing when he was ascending. Jesus had his hands up blessing the disciples while he was being taken up to heaven. In this blessing, Jesus was lifting up and giving favor to those who had been following him for the last three years. So, when Jesus was making his way to take his rightful seat at the right hand of the Father, he did not choose to glorify himself but he took that time to bless his disciples. Jesus wanted to make sure his disciples knew that they were blessed and so to give them the confidence to live in the way he had shown them.
