Arjuna speaks to the Lord and request that his chariot be placed in the middle of the battlefield so that he will be able to assess those he must overcome in this battle. The army Arjuna must overcome representations many of the negativities man is faced with in life. For example, man is faced with materialistic desire, lust, envy, hatred, ignorance and arrogance.
When we are able to assess the situations we are confronted with, we will then be able to make the proper decisions in life. In this decision-making we must try our best not to be attached to materialistic things. Arjuna speaks to the Lord saying that he does not desire kingdom, land, wealth or even fame.
