Welcome to The Authentic Social Club, a space for honest conversations. About life. About the things we’re figuring out, the things we’ve already messed up, and the things we’re slowly starting to understand and (un-)learn. Sometimes it’ll be me on my own. Sometimes it’ll be me with a friend. People who are ready to sit down and have a conversation.
The whole idea behind this podcast is simple: someone has to go first. Someone has to be the one to open up, to say the thing, to be a little bit brave, so that other people feel like they can too.
This week’s episode is a solo one, and I’ll be talking about being restless, and how it’s currently showing up for me in my life.
I recently had a coaching session, and prompted by that, ended up doing the “Explore Your Saboteurs” assessment from Positive Intelligence. Turns out my strongest saboteur is restlessness. And I have to say: yes, that clocks. Which brings us here, to this episode, and a question I’ve been sitting with: are drive and ambition restlessness in disguise?
As you might know, these episodes help me reflect on what’s present in my life, and right now, it’s exactly that: restlessness. I’ll walk you through the characteristics I learned about, how restlessness is showing up for me, what it actually feels like from the inside, and how I’m trying to navigate my way through it all.
This episode will leave you
🌞 with some known characteristics of being restless
🌞 an idea of how restlessness shows up, or can show up, in life
🌞 tools that help ground yourself from overthinking back into your body
🌞 some food for thought and reflection, and a nudge to explore your own inner saboteurs
Questions to sit with
* Is what you call drive or ambition actually restlessness wearing a “nicer” name?
* When was the last time you let an unpleasant feeling sit, instead of chasing the next thing?
* Where in your life is “I don’t want to miss out” doing more work than it needs to?
* Is your energy right now building something, or helping you escape something?
