(Luke 4:31-37)

Last week, we considered how Jesus was rejected in His hometown synagogue; today, He steps into the Capernaum synagogue, and an ordinary message becomes an extraordinary event. Jesus's words stir a demon over which He takes authority. The contrast is shocking: Nazareth saw Jesus as merely one of their own, while Capernaum recognized and embraced His authority over the spirit world.
