The Ballad Of Mysterious Yohanan ©

When I was a child, a young boy was playing a guitar that his sister had got for Christmas. He knew not how to play, but proceded to show me a song that he had composed. It conisted of only three notes, Top E, B and G, all open string, as was within his ability to manage. Recently (having the memory of an elephant)I remembered the tune the young boy had shown me. It was very simple, as one might expect from a young boy of around 4 years of age who knew not how to play, and somewhat sad due to the notes played and the slow tempo. The thought came to my mind, like a challenge I suppose, could I actually compose a piece of music based on these three simple notes in the tempo and rhythm in which they had been played. After struggling for some time due to its absolute simplicity I came up with this composition. It`s a strange one I guess, dark, sad and somewhat ominous, but nevertheless intriguing and compelling, to me at least. The actual tune composed by the young boy can be heard at the very begning after the inital piano chord intro, around 5 seconds in. Well, if anything it`s quite original and a true story. The name of the composition doesn`t actually mean anything, it just came to mind and sounded right for the composition. Hope you enjoy, thanks for listening.
