I grew up in the 70s/80s which I would call the golden age of kids’ television you know Saturday morning cartoons and fun music. This is what happens when all of the people who want to make things dark. The minute I heard about this movie I laughed and didn’t think I would like this obvious adaptation of a beloved part of my childhood remade into Five Nights at Freddy’s.

The original Banana Splits was a packaged television variety program featuring the Banana Splits, a fictional rock band composed of four funny animal characters. The costumed hosts of the show were Fleegle (guitar, vocals), Bingo (drums, vocals), Drooper (bass, vocals) and Snorky (keyboards, effects).

I have to look at this remake or shall I say re-imagining as completely crazy and off the chain because the acting was over the top and cheesy as hell. 

So, thank you for mixing Chucky and Five Nights at Freddy’s and warping my childhood. From the beginning you can tell who is going to get the “treatment” and in those cases it was well deserved based on their behavior. 

You can see why it went straight to digital and will soon get a release on Sy-Fy Network. It has its moments in the scenes where the Banana Splits have their way with their victims. 

This movie gets a 2 out of 5 because it is barely watchable and I can’t stand making my childhood so dark and gritty.
