First Sunday after Epiphany 2019

Reverend Shelley introduces Luke, whose gospel we will be reading throughout 2019. In his gospel, Luke tells the accounts of Jesus’ life, with particular insights into prayer and into the lives of women and children. Today we start with the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist, who attests that “I baptize you with water; but one who is more powerful than I is coming; I am not worthy to untie the thong of his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.”

• Acts 8:14-17

• Luke 3:15-17, 21-22

• Psalm 29
