The Baseball Europe Podcast

Paul and Matthias try to get to grips with the WBSC European cup format that consists of four different tiers, all with different rules, dates, and quality.

In 2023 Czechia fielded a team of homegrown heroes for the World Baseball Classic in Japan. Their team comprised of electricians, Neurologists and fire fighters in contrast to the rosters of other teams containing many pro-ball players from the MLB.

We sacrifice everything to Baseball is a book written by Mike Clair, a prominent journalist, author, and storyteller for MLB.com and tells the story of how the small nation of Czechia won the hearts of every Baseball fan during the tournament.

Win a copy of Mikes book, just comment below and you will be automatically entered into the draw to win. Draw takes place June 30, 2026.

How did an American become the Manager of croatia? What is Baseball really like in this country? We take a deep dive into the grass roots of Croatian baseball.

**Audio Issue Warning** This episode was recorded using Riverside FM. Somehow the recording got out of sync and at times it sounds like we are talking over Luke - I can only apologise for this. The interview is still great apart from those instances.

Did you know Hungary invented a ridiculous amount of stuff.
Hungary gave the world. The Rubik’s Cube, The ballpoint pen,Holography, and key early computer concepts
For a country of 10 million, that’s wild brain density.

But unfortunately at this moment in time, Baseball kind of isn't a thing. After a disagreement over olympic funding, the league has all but disbanded - we explain more in todays Podcast.
