FMC Good to Grow Podcast

The Battle to Control the Asian Citrus Psyllid

Listen Later

For the last two decades, the Asian citrus psyllid (ACP) and its vectored pathogen, the cause of citrus greening disease (also known as HLB), have inflicted unprecedented damage in citrus groves. Today, the battle wages on in key growing states like California, Florida and Texas. To Monique Rivera, cooperative extension specialist and entomologist at the University of California at Riverside, the issue is evolving and has created two options for citrus growers: mitigate ACP spread or maintain eradication. Join Rivera as she provides a look backward and forward at the progression of ACP, the research she and her colleagues are conducting on the pest and management considerations for the growers, PCAs and consultants fighting it.
