Fathers Tyler and Joshua examine Ministry at the Time of Death to discover the depth of this rite and to engage with the pastoral realities of death, and where the Church belongs in the midst of the transition from this part of life to the next.

In this Episode Fr. Tyler and Fr. Joshua visit the rite for Ministration to the Sick in The BCP. They discuss the importance of the ministry of presence, theology around healing versus curing, and how the Church is made stronger by making sure that no one is lost of left alone in times of suffering.

In this Episode The Rev. Julia Gatta joins Fr. Tyler and Fr. Joshua for an exploration of the rite The Reconciliation of a Penitent, as they continue exploring the Pastoral Offices section of the Boook of Common Prayer.

The Rev. Julia Gatta is the Bishop Frank A. Juhan Professor of Pastoral Theology in the School of Theology, the University of the South, Sewanee. An Episcopal priest, she served parishes in Connecticut for 25 years before moving to Sewanee. She holds a Ph.D. in Medieval Studies from Cornell University. 

On the 30th Episode of The BCP and Me, Fr. Tyler and Fr. Joshua explore, in depth, the service for the Thanksgiving for the Birth or Adotoption of a Child found on page 439 in The Book of Common Prayer. Pointing out the evolution of the rite as something that has been present since the earliest days of the church, and the implications it has for women, adopted children, and the impact on the congregation and the Church as whole.

Ope, sorry, that's a different tune. Welcome back to The BCP and Me as The Rev. Joshua Nelson and the now Very Rev Br Tyler Richards bring us back to The Book of Common Prayer, and everything that lies beneath the surface of this amazing text.

To detail everything that has happened over the last couple of years would take an entire season. We are calling these things, collectively, life changes, so we can just jump right back in where we left off. No doubt, we'll talk about some of these things as we go along and get into some of the nitty gritty of what all has happened (Fr. Tyler is a Cathedral Dean and a Dominican Friar now; Fr. Joshua is a Dad as well as s Step Dad now) and how all that has affected how we see the text. What will never change is our commitment to better understanding this text that has shaped us, and our commitment to continue the conversation about this book.
