Perhaps one of the only unrefuteable cryptids to have walked this earth. The Beast of Gevaudan was a mysterious beast that terrorized the countryside of Southern France in the 1700s. Over the course of three years, it killed and devoured upwards of 300 people. One of the first-ever international news stories, its final end gave rise to the modern tales of werewolves.
