People say, “God bless you!” But have you ever thought what that word means? What’s a blessing? How do you define it?
The word “bless” in the Bible is the Greek word makarios. Makarios is the word for “happy.” Jesus begins the Sermon on the Mount by talking about eight ways to be blessed by God. As we study Scripture, we find that the problem isn’t with God; the problem is with us. God wants to bless your life; you just have to get bless-able.
The Beatitudes are the eight conditions for receiving God’s blessing in your life.
