In this deeply personal episode of The Beautiful Messy Show, I’m sharing 10 things I’ve experienced since losing my dad — from the unexpected relief and guilt over moments I wish I could redo, to the pain of not having final words with him. I reflect on the comfort of our lake house, his favorite songs, boat rides, family traditions, pictures, and the little ways I still feel connected to him. As I navigate my first season without him, I’m learning that grief is messy, love doesn’t end, and healing isn’t linear. Through my Christian faith, I’m exploring heaven, near-death experiences, and the hope that death is not the end. I miss my dad more than words can express, but I hold onto the promise that I will see him again.

The Warrior Fatih Bible Study Starts Oct 12th! 

Today, I want to talk about something that I honestly think a lot of Christians have never really stopped to think about.

And it has to do with crowns.

Not the kind of crown you see in a jewelry store.

Not a crown that says, “Look at me. Look how important I am.”

I'm talking about the crowns Scripture tells us we can receive from Jesus.

And here's what gets me...

The Bible gives us this incredible picture in Revelation 4.

The elders are before the throne of God, and they have crowns.

But what do they do with them?

They take those crowns...

and they lay them at the feet of Jesus.

And they worship Him.

So today, I don't just want to teach you about five crowns.

I want you to ask yourself a question.

What will I have to lay at His feet?

Because maybe the point isn't simply that Jesus rewards faithfulness.

Maybe the point is that one day, everything He gives us will become another reason to worship Him.

We decide what our timeline should look like.

We write the chapter where the relationship works out exactly the way we wanted.

We write the chapter where the career takes off.

We write the chapter where motherhood looks perfect.

We write the chapter where the dream finally happens.

And then, when God writes something different, we wonder why He changed the story.

But what if He didn't change the story?

What if He is writing a story that is bigger, deeper, and more beautiful than the one we would have written for ourselves?

Today we're going to talk about what happens when we trust the Author again.

We're going to look at a few ways our chapters can look different when we stop trying to control the pen—and start trusting the One who holds it.

Welcome to Quarter Two which is Season Two here on the podcast! Every recording represents an episode for the current season! 

Today we are in Season Two Episode 9

Hw does God reveal the next steps in for our future?

This is a quest we would all like clarity over! 

I will share 5 points with you in today's episode.

 One way many Christians understand this image is that a lamp in ancient times didn't illuminate miles of road ahead. It gave enough light to see the ground immediately in front of you and perhaps a few steps beyond. The emphasis is often on guidance for the next step rather than a complete preview of the future.

 The Holy Spirit helps believers discern their next steps in several ways:

1. Through Scripture
   •  The Holy Spirit brings God's Word to mind and helps a person understand and apply it to their situation. 
   •  Often the next step becomes clearer by asking, "What course of action best aligns with God's revealed character and commands?" 
2. Through Inner Conviction
   •  Christians frequently describe the Spirit producing a sense of conviction, prompting them toward what is right or warning them away from what is wrong. 
   •  This is usually understood as guidance that remains consistent with Scripture, not something that contradicts it. 
3. Through Wisdom Rather Than Detailed Predictions
   •  The Spirit often provides wisdom, discernment, patience, courage, or peace for a decision rather than revealing every future outcome. 
   •  Many believers find that they recognize God's guidance more clearly in hindsight than in advance. 
4. Through Prayer
   •  Prayer creates space to seek God's direction, examine motives, and become more attentive to the Spirit's leading. 
   •  The answer may come as growing clarity over time rather than an immediate revelation. 
5. Through Other People and Circumstances
   •  God may use mature believers, wise counsel, opportunities, closed doors, and circumstances to help guide a person. 
   •  These are generally weighed alongside Scripture and prayer. 

"What is the faithful step directly in front of me today?" The image of the lamp suggests that God often gives enough light for obedience in the present, trusting Him with what lies beyond our current view.

3. Take prayer walks.
Connect with God while enjoying His creation. Listen more than you speak and allow Him space to minister to your heart.

4. Practice gratitude daily.
A thankful heart becomes more aware of God's presence in both ordinary and extraordinary moments.

5. Stay connected to community.
Join Bible studies, devotions, and conversations that encourage your faith and keep you spiritually grounded.

6. Learn to pause before reacting.
When faced with uncertainty, ask, "Holy Spirit, what are You showing me?" before making decisions.
