The Beauty in Knowing that We Aren’t Good Enough

Listen Later

Two weeks ago, we looked at the question: Are You Really Free? The idea of being free from the false teaching of being right with God by our works was the focus, but we also looked at the struggle many face today: being free from the grip of sin. We learned that true freedom only comes through faith in Christ. My prayer is, that we all can answer a resounding “Yes!” to this question.

Today, we will continue to look at Galatians 3 as Paul expounds on the Law and the Promise. Some of you may not like the sermon title, but to be saved, we must understand that we need a Savior. In and of ourselves, we are not “good enough.” We cannot keep the whole Law, therefore, we are guilty of breaking it all. James 2:10 For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.

Our message for today is titled: “The Beauty in Knowing that We Aren’t Good Enough”

Our points will be:

  1. Law vs Promise?
  2. The Law Shows that We Aren’t Good Enough
  3. The Promise Shows that God Desires Us Anyway
  4. Main Scripture: Galatians 3:15-25

    Supporting Texts: Romans 5:20-21, Galatians 6:1, Genesis 3:15, Genesis 15:18, Genesis 12:2-3, Numbers 23:19, Romans 7:7, 1 Timothy 2:5, Exodus 20:20, Romans 3:20, 2 Corinthians 5:18, Romans 4:3, Romans 7:6, Colossians 2:13-14, Matthew 5:17, 2 Corinthians 5:21

Diving Deeper. After listening to today's message, consider asking yourself the following questions:

    • Are the Law and the Promise at odds with each other? Explain.
    • Explain the beauty of understanding both the Law and the Promise.
    • How does the realization that you aren’t good enough feel?
    • How does God desiring you anyway feel?
    • Are you satisfied with who you are in Christ? Explain.
    • ...more
