Planning how to achieve your bee keeping targets for each year starts well before spring, many would say that a strong start to beekeeping in spring is assured by the correct action during the previous August and September.
The creation of nucleus colonies that over winter well allows a beekeeper to start the year even before new mated queens come available.
Planning for Spring 2024 is my thought process through the route to full apiaries with large colonies in readiness for spring foraging. It’s all down to the start the over wintered nucs provide.
This episode covers the progress with grafting, varroa resistant queens, inspecting, setting up the nuc apiary for brood production.
At the end of recording this episode I want to mention the background song and chatter of our Budgie. She or maybe he enjoys company and today was clearly keen to join in.
I will do a spoken apiary report which can only be accessed by going to my substack page. I felt the podcast would be too long if I included it at the end.
