In Matthew 16:15-16 Jesus asked the disciples, “But whom say ye that I am?” Peter answers, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Then Jesus told him, “Upon this rock I will build my church.” In Acts 16:6-34, we read about the supernatural beginning of the church in Philippi. Through the restraint, release, and power of the Holy Spirit the church at Philippi was built. We also read about the conversion of Lydia (verses 10-15), the conversion of a fortune teller (verses 16-18), and the conversion of the jailer and his family (verses 25-34). These conversions created Christ-followers and the birth of a church. The Christian church is built on our belief that Jesus Christ was crucified, died, was buried, and resurrected. And THIS is the glue that holds us together.
