Ramayana is one of the greatest epics of Hindu Literature. The story begins with King Dasaratha of Kosala kingdom, who is strong, valiant and considered to be greatest rulers of all time, is devoid of son. The king seeks advice from Rishis and Munis to perform a great yaaga. How Raama becomes a part of this process and how he is born is narrated in this episode.

With this episode, we begin the Bala Kanda Season. In this episode, we learn about the ancient Indian kingdom of Kosala and its capital, Ayodhya, which was a cosmopolitan city even in ancient times. We will learn about King Dasaratha, who ruled the kingdom of Kosala and was virtuous and followed Dharma. Furthermore, we will learn how King Dasaratha performed Yaaga to have sons, and subsequently was blessed with Raama, Lakshmana, Bharata, and Shatrughna. As we learn more about the 4 princes, we will also discover how they grew up to be strong, brave, and virtuous.
