Lisa Murray

This week's One To Watch is Lisa Murray.

Lisa has released her first single of 2022, i unfollowed you.

Lisa loves to tell stories through her music and i unfollowed you was inspired by a conversation with her best friend.

They were both talking and laughing about social media, and the politics around who you follow, unfollow and mute, particularly in the case of exes.

Lisa said she woke up the following morning with the whole concept for the track.

Lisa grew up in a musical family and started playing the piano at aged 7. She also started writing music aged 11.

Obviously, music was the path for her and she went on to study Music and Irish at Trinity College, followed by a Masters Degree from the world-renowned Berklee College of Music.

Lisa wanted to find a space that uplifted and supported women in the industry and came across an 'Outstanding Women' scholarship programme for a Masters degree in Music Production, Technology and Innovation there. She doesn't know how she got the confidence to apply but it all worked out great for her in the end!

Having studied in Berklee, Lisa said it has made such a difference to her music. To be able to see a track through from start to finish by herself means a lot to her and she now makes all her tracks in her home studio.

Alongside her musical work, Lisa works as an Audio Engineer at Sony Music Entertainment.
