Jesus, as God’s Son, takes our place to save sinners by being tempted by the devil. The Spirit leads him on to this attack where he fulfills perfectly what God’s Son Israel had failed to do in the Old Testament. 

Jesus does this for us. He suffers the sins, quotes the Word of God from Deuteronomy. He outlasts the devil and is now ready to announce the coming of the Kingdom of God. The only question is where that will begin to take place. 

The Scriptures are fulfilled in order provide us with the location of that next time.
