The Best Hip Replacement Implants

Nothing is forever, and we know that hip replacement implants do wear out.  A new study from the UK’s University of Bristol concludes that the hip prostheses least likely to require replacement within 15 years are those with delta ceramic or oxidised zirconium heads and highly crosslinked polyethylene liners or cups.  The researchers reviewed the records of more than 1,026,000 records in the British National Joint Registry.

Which manufacturers market these desirable joint replacements and which models are preferred? Stryker’s Accolade II and Trident.  Zimmer Biomet’s  M/L Taper and Persona.  Johnson & Johnson’s DePuy Synthes R3 Acetabular and Corrail Hip Systems.  Smith & Nephew R3 Acetabular System.  And Exactech’s Equinoxe and Optetrak systems.
