Badges, emblems, signs, and stickers: this week’s Carmudgeon show is all about why so many cars have badges for seemingly irrelevant things. Trim-level badging apparently helps with resale values, but why is it necessary to tell the cars behind you that you have Tuned Port Injection? Jason and Derek take an illustrated trip down memory lane, discussing the coolest (and silliest) badges ever put on cars. And why having a lighted star on the front of your Mercedes is actually a poverty badge — but having no badge on your V-12 E32 750iL could be a sign of exclusivity. Some of the badges covered in this episode include: Disc brakes, ABS, Honda’s ALB, Automatic, Automatique, Dynaflow and other transmission badges, 4WS, 16V, 24V, 32V, Twin Cam, EFI, MPFI, TBI, Tuned Port Injection, Twin H Power, Tri Power, Turbo, Turbo Diesel, Turbodiesel, V8-6-4, GT4, Alltrac, Fuel Injection, 5-speed, Overdrive, IRS, BMW 1800 TI/SA, SH-AWD, AWD, 4WD, 4 Wheel Drive, All Wheel Drive, Injection Electronique, Twin I Beam, Big Horn, King Ranch, Isuzu P’Up, Inezione, 4Porte, Quattroporte, Quattro, 4Matic, 4Motion, Q4, xDrive, SH-AWD, eAWD, TSI, TFSI, TDI, GDI, Hybrid, Anti-Theft Radio, VTEC, iVTEC, VVT, VVTi, VVTL-i, VVEL, Dual Motor, 16 Ventiler, P100D, Ludicrous, DMP, Cambiocorsa, Ferrari F1, Advancetrac, Advancetrac RST, Stabillitrak, PZEV, SIPS, Side Impact Protection System, GL, EX, DX, LE, Si, LX, S, SE, SEL, Lambda Sond, EV, Electric Vehicle, Kompressor, Turbo, BiTurbo, V8, V12, AMG, Radial Tuned Suspension, Handling By Lotus, TR5 PI, Magnum PI, 308 Magnum PI, Police Interceptor, DTS, Deville Touring Sedan, GTS, 911 GTS, 928 GTS, Celica GTS, Cayman GTS, Boxster GTS, Porsche GTS, Ferrari GTS The Carmudgeon Show is a comedic, information-filled conversation with Jason Cammisa and Derek Tam-Scott, two car enthusiasts who are curmudgeonly beyond their years. Proving you don’t have to be old to be grumpy, they spend each episode talking about what’s wrong with various parts of the automotive universe. Despite their best efforts to keep it negative, they usually wind up laughing, happy, and extolling their love for cars. Which just makes them angrier and more bitter.

Jason Cammisa is an automotive journalist, social-media figure, and TV host with over 250 million views on YouTube alone. Jason’s deeply technical understanding, made possible by a lifelong obsession with cars, allows him to fully digest what’s going on within an automobile — and then put it into simple terms for others to understand. Also, a Master’s Degree in Law trained him to be impossible to argue with.   Derek Tam-Scott still tries. He’s a young automotive expert with old-man taste in cars, and a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering — which means he knows how to be civil to Jason. Or at least he tries. With a decade and a half’s experience buying, selling, driving and brokering classic and exotic cars, he’s experienced the world’s most iconic cars. And hated most of them.   Don't forget to visit: https://www.issimi.com/ ISSIMI Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/issimiofficial ISSIMI Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/issimiofficial/   Podcast available on:  ISSIMI Soundcloud:Support the show
