2 Corinthians 2:10-11

Anyone you forgive, I also forgive. And what I have forgiven—if there was anything to forgive—I have forgiven in the sight of Christ for your sake, in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes.

1 Peter 3:7

In the same way, you husbands must give honor to your wives. Treat your wife with understanding as you live together. She may be weaker than you are, but she is your equal partner in God’s gift of new life. Treat her as you should so your prayers will not be hindered.

Ephesians 5:33

However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.

Colossians 3:18-19

Wives, understand and support your husbands by submitting to them in ways that honor the Master. Husbands, go all out in love for your wives. Don’t take advantage of them.

Unrealistic Expectation:

Getting married will make me happy.

The reality:

Marriage is not an antidote for unhappiness.

Unrealistic Expectation:

He’ll be different after we’re married.

The reality:

What you see is what you get.

Unrealistic Expectation:

We are Christians, our marriage is safe.

The reality:

Every marriage must be nurtured and protected.

Unrealistic Expectation:

He should understand without me telling him.

The reality:

Understanding requires communication.

Unrealistic Expectation:

If we tithe we won’t have money problems.

The reality:

You still have to establish a budget and live within your means.
