It’s hard to be a sidekick. You’re always in the shadow. Always waiting just off-stage. But what if that’s the way to true life and lasting joy? This week we see from John 3:22-4:3 how John the Baptist is always a sidekick, but rather than grow in jealousy he grows in joy as he joyfully spotlights the arrival of Jesus, the true bridegroom. “He must increase, I must decrease.”
