If there is one illness that is universally despised by parents, it's the stomach bug. 

Dealing with vomiting and diarrhea in kids can be messy, time consuming, and can even get you sick in the process.

But most worrisome part is that for a child, what seems like a little stomach bug can very quickly lead to dehydration and serious problems.

In fact, when I had just graduated from medical school, we would constantly admit young children to the hospital simply to get them rehydrated. And while there have been changes in available medications that can keep a child from moving from the ER to a hospital bed, knowing what to do when your child has a stomach bug can hopefully prevent you from having to go to the ER in the first place.
