Her doctoral research focused on “An Islamic Psychological Approach to Psychotherapy,” highlighting the contributions of Islamic teachings to psychological wellness and therapy for Muslim clients.

With over a decade of experience, Dr. Assar has provided therapy to diverse populations in various settings, including private practice, schools, substance abuse treatment facilities, and county clinics. She currently serves as a psychologist at the Islamic Center of NYU (ICNYU) and is an adjunct faculty member at the Boston Islamic Seminary.
