Saved by grace, called to stand firm, and filled with a joy no prison could take away: in this episode of 'The Bible in a Year,' Pastor Kevin Cain & Rev. Dr. David Spence walk through two of the Apostle Paul's most loved letters, the Book of Ephesians and the Book of Philippians.

Paul spent about three years in Ephesus, a city built around the temple of Artemis, longer than he stayed anywhere else. In Ephesians, he shows that salvation is God's work from start to finish: "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith… not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works." Pastor Kevin & Rev. Spence unpack what it means to surrender, why Christ Himself is our peace and our cornerstone, why "pastor-teacher" belongs together, what Ephesians 5 really teaches about marriage and mutual submission, and why the armor of God calls us to stand rather than attack. Then they turn to Philippians, Paul's letter of joy written from chains, where Christ empties Himself and takes the nature of a servant, Paul presses on toward the goal, and believers learn the secret of contentment in every circumstance.
