Racing mourns the loss of Michael O’Sullivan as racing resumes in England this weekend. We start this week on the sombre passing of one of the bright young stars un national hunt racing.

This week, racing mourned the loss of Cork born jockey Micheal O’Sullivan, who following a fall at Thurles two weeks ago, very tragically lost his battle against life on Sunday 16th February.

Michael was associated closely with Barry Connell’s stables in Ireland until the start of this season, and was known best for riding a cheltenham festival day one double in 2023, landing the Boodles handicap after he raised the roof with a win on Marine Nationale in the Sky Bet Supreme.

At just 24 years of age, Michael graduated out of that festival claim at the time to ride an abundance of winners, and was rapidly becoming one of the star names in the sport over in Ireland.
