Whilst living and working in Brighton, The Big Lemon founder Tom Druitt became frustrated with the inability of public transport to provide a solution to the nation's transport needs whilst addressing the issue of climate change.
With no prior industry knowledge, Tom and his team gathered their experiences as passengers to guide the design of a new type of bus service, whilst seeking to make the operation as green as possible.
The Big Lemon was the first bus company in the UK to run all its vehicles on 100% biodiesel from locally-sourced waste cooking oil and won the Dandelion Award for Sustainable Business in 2009. They also came 8th in the RBS SE100 Index of Social Businesses in 2009 and won Best Sustainability Initiative at the 2010 Brighton and Hove Public Service Awards.
At this inspirational breakfast, Tom talks about why he started The Big Lemon, his biggest challenges (and successes!) and his vision for the future.
