Midtown has two great record stores - Goner Records and Shangri-la Records and a host of noted studios that include Ardent, Sam Phillips and Sun. Many of our artists record in home studios.Mike McCarthy, a notorious filmmaker, sculptor and musician, has been an observer and participant in the Memphis garage/punk scene since the early 1990’s. In 2023, our label began this podcast series where Mike interviews musicians and observers of Rock and Roll. The club/venue scene, past (Antenna, Barristers, Buccaneer, etc.) and present (HiTone, Lamplighter, Railgarten, B-side, etc.), features prominently in many of the podcasts.
