The author may touch a few nerves as she points out some of the excuses that the blackman has become accustomed to using and the truth of how he acts on the jobsite. I think that she is brave for telling the truth especially since she is trying to bring understanding to the blackwoman and guide her to being able to be with her blackman again. Maybe if we understood them, they wouldn't run and hide his trueself in the arms of a white woman.
