The Blessing of the First
When you look at the definition of the word first it means “coming before all others in time or order; foremost in position, rank, or importance.” You can always tell what is important to a person by looking at their priorities. Some people wake up first thing in the morning to workout because their health has become something that they esteem above all other obligations. We often feel the benefits of being first when beginning a new relationship. You find this new exciting person at the top of your list even if that means canceling prior obligations. We’ve all been there. There is a remarkable blessing that comes when we place God as the FIRST in our lives. Do you give him the first of your time or does He get a short yawning prayer right before you fall asleep after a long workday? Do you give Him the first fruits of your income of do you give to Him only after you’ve paid all your bills? Remember, your priorities tell a lot about what you esteem to be vital in your life.
