The arrival of Jesus caused some to rise and others to fall.  This is what was prophesied by Isaiah in the Old Testament.  While those who are willing to recognize their spiritual blindness will be able to see through faith in Christ, those who likewise are wise in their own eyes will push into deeper spiritual blindness.  This text examines how the once blind man can now not only see physically, but also spiritually.
