In 1937, a woman pilot and her navigator set out on a mission to circumnavigate the globe, flying over the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. On July 2, they departed from Lae, New Guinea, for a challenging flight across the Pacific Ocean to Howland Island.

The journey was fraught with challenges, including bad weather and malfunctioning radio equipment. The pilot and navigator used celestial navigation to plot their course, but as the hours passed, they ran low on fuel and grew increasingly tense. At around 7:30 in the morning, the pilot made a final radio call to the ground crew, saying they must be on their way to the island but could not see it and that gas was running low. It was the last anyone ever heard from them.

Despite a search and rescue effort, no trace of the plane or its occupants was ever found. The woman pilot's disappearance became one of the greatest mysteries of the 20th century, fueling endless speculation and conspiracy theories. Her legacy continues to inspire generations of pilots and adventurers.
