Isaiah 44 teaches the devastation of idolatry. Idolatry will only leave you in the darkness of spiritual bondage.
Idolatry, at its core, is exchanging, replacing, or substituting the glory, majesty, and power of the living God for things He has created. Those can be good things like a spouse, children, a job, or a project. Or they can be bad things like sexual immorality, materialism, ego, and popularity.
Either way, the great horror of idolatry is that Christ alone is not enough to satisfy you and give you meaning and purpose and security, so you exchange all that He is for something or someone else that you foolishly think will provide you that satisfaction, security, and purpose.
Idolatry is foolish, confusing, blinding, and eventually enslaving. Listen as Dr. Sean Cole preaches this passage and it's warning against idolatry.
