The journey to Rome has been no easy feat.
Paul, along with several other prisoners, is placed in the custody of a Roman officer, Julius, a captain of the Imperial Regiment. Their voyage is long and grueling—marked by multiple stops, slow sailing from Adramyttium toward Italy, and constant struggle against harsh winds along the coast. As the season shifts, the seas grow increasingly dangerous.
At Fair Havens, Paul urges them to remain, warning of the peril ahead—loss of cargo, shipwreck, and even danger to their lives. But his counsel is dismissed. The officer trusts the ship’s captain and owner instead. Anchors are lifted, and they press on.
At first, all seems well.
Then the storm strikes.
A violent wind of typhoon strength drives them far out to sea. For fourteen relentless nights, they battle the tempest—losing cargo, equipment, and even their lifeboats. Exhausted and starving, the crew begins to lose hope. Then Paul steps forward, urging them to eat and take courage, delivering a promise from God: not one life will be lost.
And it happens just as he said.
The ship is wrecked on the shores of Malta—but every soul survives. What follows is extraordinary. The islanders show unexpected kindness, and Paul, unharmed by a venomous snakebite, goes on to heal the sick—including the father of the island’s chief.
After three months, the journey resumes.
At last, they reach Rome.
Though still under guard, Paul lives with remarkable freedom for two years—welcoming all who come to him, boldly proclaiming the Kingdom of God and teaching about Jesus Christ without hindrance.
A journey marked by storms, survival, and unwavering faith… carried safely to its purpose.
Verse the Day: Isaiah 64:4
Since the world began, no ear has heard and no eye has seen a God like you, who works for those who wait for him!
Statement of the Day:
A future forever with God is worth waiting for.
