Esther 9 “Purim, Joy & Sorrow”

The day to annihilate the Jews according to the Kings Decree arrives. But, King Xerxes charters constitutional laws allowing for the Jewish people to defend themselves, their homes and their families. This is the civil war of the Persian empire, the biblical parallel to “The Purge” where crime, even murder, is allowed. The death of 75,810 people, with a combined estate of 33 billion dollars today! Untouched. The Jews are empowered because of one man, Mordecai who has gained the favor and status second only to Xerxes himself. This chapter reveals how we are empowered by the actions of one man, Jesus Christ, who sanctions and empowers us to overcome our enemies. This is the origin story of the day of Purim, a Jewish festival to commemorate the day Haman took a gamble on trying to destroy the people of God.
