Leviticus Chapter 11, offers details for the Israelites regarding how to determine what is considered a clean and unclean animal. In addition, it outlines how to properly handle each one.
Leviticus Chapter 12, gives details on how a woman should handle her time of uncleanness after she gives birth. During this time, a woman was considered to be just as unclean as when she was on her monthly cycle. The amount of time that she remained unclean depended on the sex of her baby.
