The Book of Romans: Episode 11: Justified by Faith and Establishing the Law

In Romans 3:21-31, the Apostle Paul turns from his lengthy exposition concerning the depravities of humanity to how God has moved to overcome them. After pointing out the failure to keep the law, mainly because the point of the law was to expose sin for what it is, namely abject rebellion against God, Paul turns to the principle of faith. Unwavering, dependence, and reliance upon the person of Jesus Christ, apart from the law, is what appeases God and delivers the sinner from death unto life. That said, however, the law is still relevant as a moral guide for the saint. This is something that is sorely missing in contemporary Christianity, where it is often taught that because the Christian is "saved by grace," the law is now somehow obsolete. Such is not true, as both the Apostle Paul and Dr. Paul make clear.
